5 fun and unique ways to announce your pregnancy

One of the absolute best parts of pregnancy is when it is time to reveal the big news! It’s something that you have looked forward to since the moment there were two blue lines on that pregnancy test. You have been anticipating this moment, and you want it to be perfect. There are new grandmas, aunts, uncles, grandfathers, and more who are going to be taken aback and extremely surprised. There are so many great ways that you can reveal your pregnancy to your family and friends. Let’s look at a variety of unique pregnancy announcement ideas that are guaranteed to delight.

How to announce your pregnancy

Lottery cards

Here is where the fun begins. Invite your family to a barbecue or a potluck, and have everybody bring something. Nobody will suspect a thing. Hide these adorable and seemingly innocent-looking lottery cards underneath the plates. The fun part will come when you announce that it’s time for food. You can ask your guests (provide them with a coin to scratch off the card) to please find the tickets beneath their plates. Ask them to scratch them off. These are gag cards that look like winning tickets. At the bottom in  the biggest scratch area, the “prize box” says, “We’re having a baby!” It’s such an exciting and cute way to announce a pregnancy.

Wine a little

No, we aren’t telling mom to have a glass of wine, but how about gifting a bottle of wine to each family and friend that you want to announce your pregnancy to? With these hilarious wine labels, you can wrap wine bottles up with them and put the wine into a basket or bag. When they open it and go to look at what kind of wine it is, they’ll be surprised and elated! Guide them to put the breakable bottle of wine down, and then commence the excited jumping up and down that everyone will do when they find out that you are expecting.

A dozen doughnuts

If you are excited to tell your co-workers, too, then here is a great idea that you can try to let them know in a cute way that you are expecting. On your way to work, grab a dozen or so doughnuts. On the inside top of the box, place a sign (you can make this ahead of time) that says, “Eat up! My mom does not want to be the only one with a belly.” Then at the bottom, you share that you are expecting, and the month and date that the baby is due. It is a small and cute gesture, and it lets everyone at work know that you are having a baby!

From granddog to grandchild

If your parents have a precious grand dog that they love with all of their heart, that is a wonderful relationship. But if you want to actually shock them with the news of a grandchild, you can do it with these sweet cards that say that they are being promoted from “dog grandparents to human grandparents.” A paw print and a little foot adorn the card on the front, letting everyone know that the baby and the dog will be absolute best friends when the little one makes their grand arrival into the world.

Puzzle fun

If you have someone in your family who loves to do puzzles and you want to tell them that you are pregnant, a great way to do it is to easily gift them this sweet puzzle. When they put it together, it says, “There’s a bun in the oven!” Just imagine the phone call that you’ll get once they have solved the puzzle and put it all together. What a fun way to tell someone special that you have a baby on the way.

Any of these ideas are a wonderful way to announce your pregnancy, not to mention, they’ll make the news even more exciting for you to reveal. Whether it be grandparents, friends, aunts, uncles, cousins, or co-workers, there are so many ways that you can surprise them with your big announcement. They’ll be so ecstatic after hearing the news, and you’ll have so much fun making a game out of spilling the beans!

What is a baby sprinkle (and how to plan a great one)
Why you should at least have a baby sprinkle even if you already have a child
Cake for a baby shower.

We all know the standard pregnancy celebrations. We've seen gender reveal photoshoots all over social media and have been invited or know someone who has gone to at least one baby shower. But what about when someone is having a second baby? Or is having the first girl after two back-to-back boys? Well, that's where having a baby sprinkle comes in handy. Whether it's been a few years since the last little one or you're having one of the opposite gender and only need a few items, here's why a baby sprinkle is the perfect way to welcome this new addition.
What is a baby sprinkle?

If you don't know anything about pregnancy parties, think of it in scientific terms. What is a shower versus a sprinkle when it rains? Not as much water for one as the other, right? Take that and apply it to a baby shower versus a baby sprinkle. Think of a baby sprinkle as that grocery trip where you only need the fillers, and you're not restocking the whole kitchen.
If you already have a baby
If you are parents to one child (or two or three), you probably have most of the stuff you need from the last child. But if there were items you wish you would have grabbed for the first one or you have a list of needs for this next baby, a sprinkle is the perfect forum to get those goods.
If it's been a few years since you've had a baby
Even if you already have a child, maybe this next one is a few years further away than you wanted or planned. A baby sprinkle is the best way to get those items you may have donated, lost, or broke with the first kiddo.
If you have only one gender but find out you are having the other
Have all boys? You will want a sprinkle to get some girl items. Have only girls? You might use a sprinkle to get at least one item that isn't pink. Not that certain colors are meant for boys or girls, but maybe you had a Minnie Mouse-themed nursery, and you'd like your first boy to have a new theme for their nursery.
Let's sprinkle the details
A baby sprinkle isn't going to be exactly like your baby shower. It's more of a low-key event, should be less stressful, and is less formal.

A pregnant woman holding her belly in a bathroom

Weight gain is a very real, very normal, and very expected part of pregnancy. Most people are prepared to see the scale going up as their pregnancy progresses, but sometimes they may notice it going down, which can cause some anxiety. Pregnancy requires extra calories and extra nutrition to feed a growing baby, which is why it can be very concerning when a pregnant person notices they are losing weight.

Weight loss during pregnancy may be more common than you think. It isn't necessarily cause for alarm unless it's a consistent pattern throughout the pregnancy and not just a short-lived dip on the scale. Many factors can cause a pregnant person to lose weight, but that doesn't mean it can't be concerning when it happens. You should always consult your doctor if you're concerned about your weight gain or loss during pregnancy, but if you've found yourself asking, "Why am I losing weight while pregnant?" here are a few possible explanations.

There's so much to be excited about when it comes to having a baby, but parents-to-be often spend quite a bit of time agonizing over the perfect name. There is a lot of pressure to choose the ideal name for your little one, which may be why Western baby names are riding back to the forefront.

Namerology creator Lauren Wattenberg is all about names and predicts cowboy baby names will definitely be something to climb in the saddle for in the coming years. Wattenberg feels shows like the popular Western drama Yellowstone have brought cowboy names in from the range. Of course, Western baby names have never really ridden into the sunset. Dakota is a gender-neutral Western baby name that became prevalent in the 90s.
