These funny gender reveal ideas will delight your guests

Cute, clever and unique gender reveal ideas

Gender reveal parties have become just as popular as baby showers these days. While they are definitely not necessary, gender reveals are a fantastic and fun way to get your loved ones together for a celebration. Some couples choose to learn their baby’s gender by cutting into a cake that reveals a pink or blue filling while others have popped confetti-filled balloons. If you’re looking for something a bit more unique for your gender reveal, you may want to try one of these more humorous options that will include your family and friends.

These funny gender reveal ideas will require you to pick your most trusted family member or friend to find out the sex of the baby before anyone else, including you! If you and your partner are just fine with handing over the reins to someone else, then let’s dive into these funny gender reveal ideas.

The silly string attack

Send your trusted friend or family member off to the store to purchase pink or blue silly string — and a lot of it. If you are a bit more nonconforming when it comes to gender, keep in mind you don’t have to use pink and blue! This day is about your family, so feel free to choose different colors that represent a boy and girl to you.

When the time comes, make sure you and your guests all head outside if you’re not already there. Once you are surrounded by your loved ones, have them attack you with the silly string to reveal your baby’s gender. Everyone will get a good laugh out of the situation and will feel like they had a hand in revealing the good news. Hopefully, you’ll have some helpful hands ready to clean up the mess!

Just baby-ing around

Everyone has that one friend who is known as the ‘class clown’ who always makes everyone laugh. Well finally, their time has come to shine. If you are really looking to get a laugh out of everyone, you’ll instruct this friend to dress up as a giant baby — yes you read that correctly — in the proper color. For a more simple approach, this friend or family member can dress in a pink or blue giant-sized onesie. If you wanted to take it one step further and get an extra kick out of the reveal you could provide a costume diaper and bonnet combination.

When everyone is ready to find out the sex of your baby, have your funny friend run out through the doorway. If you’re feeling extra fun, you can even have them pop out of a box with streamers and balloons!

Potions class

If you and your partner are self-proclaimed nerds, then why not mix a potion together? One of the simplest methods to craft a gender-revealing potion is with dry ice, water, and a colored bath bomb. Make sure to first find a bowl or container with tall sides that are not transparent to keep the secret safe until the reveal (cauldrons are preferred, but not required).

Ahead of time, make sure your trusted friend sticks the bath bomb in the water. When you and your partner are ready, stick the dry ice into the pot and watch your colored water bubble over. To really get everyone in the spirit, we recommend having them dress up in their favorite wizarding get-up! You and your guests will be feeling the magic, to say the least.

Game on

If you’re looking for a more subdued, but still fun gender reveal, then you’ll love packing your party with all-day voting. This is ideal if you’re hosting your party indoors at your home or in a restaurant.

Set up a board that allows your guests to cast their vote and see who is in the lead throughout the party! You can even have your guests hold up personalized paddles to vote on what gender they think the baby is. For a tasty alternative, you can have your friends and family vote with colored candy. Sending them off with candy favors in their respective colors is a fun treat! Once everyone has voted, you and your partner can open up the envelope your doctor gave you to make the big reveal.

Hit the piñata

These fun, hittable papier-mâché figurines are not just for kids’ birthday parties. Get a stork, pacifier, diaper, or cake-shaped piñata, and fill it with pink or blue confetti or candy. Channel all that pregnancy hormone-fueled rage (it’s in there!) as you find out if you will be having a girl or boy. Your emotional state will instantly shift to pure happiness and unadulterated joy. Pro tip: Do not get a baby-shaped piñata. You won’t have the heart to hit it with a stick.

Scratch-offs

If you are that family member who gives everyone lottery scratch-offs for birthdays and holidays, send your friends and loved ones a customized girl or boy game. They will be on pins and needles as they scratch off the foil cover to reveal the answer — either way they hit the jackpot! What’s more, this is a fun and special way to celebrate the occasion with those near and far.

Remember that these gender reveal parties are simply a fun way to bring your loved ones together to celebrate your little one. Even if the silly string gets into someone’s eye or your grandma doesn’t find your friend in a giant onesie hilarious, you’ll appreciate the memories you get out of it all.

In today's digital age, though, keeping that magic of Santa Claus alive gets harder and harder. Once kids start going to school, they always run into those naysayers who are all too quick to share why it's impossible for Santa to get all around the world in one night to deliver presents.

Then there are all those toy drives and collections during the holiday season, leaving kids to wonder why we need to donate presents if Santa brings them. Of course, not everyone celebrates Christmas, which also makes children wonder about the existence of Santa. If you haven't discovered the wonders of crockpot cooking, the upcoming holiday season is the ideal time to start. Time is difficult enough to carve out during the holidays, which is what makes crockpot meals such a deliciously simple option.

Crockpots have been around for decades with the slow cooker being introduced to American kitchens in the 40s. It wasn't until the 70s though that crockpot cooking really started to heat up. Sure, grandma might not approve of making Christmas dinner in a crockpot, but believe it or not, Christmas crockpot meals are just as scrumptious as ones prepared on the stove or in the oven.
